Why Stories to Play
Stories help children make sense of the world around them. They spark imagination, build understanding and give us a meaningful way to share the things that matter most.
From the time our children were little, stories have been an important part of our family life. As they grew, we began adding toys, characters and props to storytime — giving them something to hold, move and explore as they listened.
Storytime became more than something they heard. It became something they could take part in.
That simple idea became the beginning of Stories to Play.
Bringing stories to life
Learning Through Play
We saw firsthand how play could transform the way our children engaged with Bible stories.
Instead of only listening, they could move the characters through the story, recreate events, ask questions and retell what had happened in their own words.
The visual and tactile nature of play helped make the stories easier to understand, remember and revisit — while giving their imaginations room to explore.
It was this experience that inspired the creation of Storytelling Peg People and the wider Stories to Play range.
OUR STORY
HI, I'M ALICIA
I’m a mum of two girls and the creator of Stories to Play.
The idea grew from our own family worship time. What began as simply reading Bible stories together gradually became much more interactive.
We used hand-painted wooden peg dolls, toy animals, boats, trees and whatever other props we could find to create the scenes as we read. The children became part of the storytelling — moving characters, asking questions, anticipating what came next and later recreating the stories by themselves.
They began looking forward to family worship, and I could see how much more deeply they were engaging with what they were learning.
I wanted to create a beautiful, practical collection that other families, teachers and churches could use in the same way.
And so, Stories to Play was born.

Our Purpose
Stories to Play exists to help children discover Bible stories through hands-on storytelling and imaginative play.
Our resources are designed to be beautiful enough to treasure, practical enough to use again and again, and versatile enough to grow with the stories children are learning.
Above all, we hope these resources help children know the stories of the Bible, understand God’s love for them, and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus as they learn, play and explore.
